TOPEKA, Kan. (October 4, 2011) – Nearly 90 cars are on the entry list for this weekend’s SCCA RallyCross National Championship event at Tulsa Raceway Park (TRP), in Tulsa, Ok., and each of those drivers will have an opportunity to earn contingency prizes from four automobile manufacturers and Grassroots Motorsports Magazine.
Volkswagen of America, the Official Pace Vehicle of SCCA, is paying out $200 for a win and $100 for a runner-up finish in each of the eight RallyCross classes. Honda Performance Development is offering qualified Honda and Acura drivers $500 for a National Championship, $300 for a runner-up finish and $100 for completing the podium.
Mazda North American Operations is offering Mazda drivers a $750 prize for a National Championship, and $500 or $250 for completing the podium. Subaru’s prizes go to top finishers in the Stock – All Wheel Drive, Prepared – All Wheel Drive and Modified – Four Wheel Drive classes, with $1,250 going to eligible National Champions, $750 going to the runner-up, and $500 for finishing third.
Subscribers to Grassroots Motorsports Magazine who participate in the program will take home $100 for a National Championship.
Entries are being accepted for the 2011 SCCA RallyCross National Championship at TRP, up to and including the day of the event, running October 7-9. The event makes its first appearance at TRP, moving from Fountain, Colo., for 2011.
TRP has been a motorsports fixture in Tulsa for over 40 years and is owned by Dan Guterman, a 30-year SCCA member. The established facility hosts a full stable of amenities, and sits at the crossroads of I-244 and US 169 for easy highway access. Local restaurants, hotels and the Tulsa airport are located nearby the facility.
The NEOKLA Region will play host to the event, though many of the operations of the event will be handled by officials from around the country, the RallyCross Board, and the SCCA National Staff in the same fashion as other SCCA National Championship events including the Tire Rack Solo National Championship and the SCCA National Championship Runoffs.
