Friday Recap: Majors Qualifying from VIR

ALTON, Va. (April 17, 2014) – Qualifying, in preparation for this weekend’s doubleheader race weekend, is now in the books the SCCA U.S. Majors tour event at VIRginia International Raceway. The weekend serves as Rounds Nine and 10 of the Southeastern Conference, as well as the opening two rounds of the Northwestern Conference.

The track started out damp and slippery as a result of overnight rains, but was completely dry by mid-morning thanks to the sun warming things up.

Each of the eight race groups, made up of 28 Runoffs-eligible classes, took to the 3.27-mile, 17-turn circuit for a pair of 20-minute qualifying sessions that set the field for Saturday’s 25-minute sprint races.

Listen to what some of the drivers had to say about their performance on track. Jonathan Goring, Spec Miata   Michael Brent, Formula 500
