Cunningham Quick in Afternoon SPEED TC Practice, Wittmer Fastest Overall

TOOELE, Utah (May 16, 2008) €“ Peter Cunningham led a RealTime Racing sweep of the top three positions in Friday afternoon€™s practice for Sunday€™s SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Touring Car Championship Round Three race, part of the Larry H. Miller Dealerships Utah Grand Prix at Miller Motorsports Park. Teammates Pierre Kleinubing and Kuno Wittmer completed the top three, with Wittmer€™s morning practice time standing up for fast time of the day.Driving the No. 42 Acura/RealTime Racing/Eibach/Red Line Acura TSX, Cunningham turned a fastest time of 2:05.927 (87.136 mph) in the afternoon, which was just off the morning pace of 2:05.799 (87.224 mph) by Wittmer€™s No. 44 Acura/RealTime Racing/Eibach/Red Line Oil Acura TSX.€œI like driving around by myself,€ Cunningham said. €œThis morning, we were in amongst a bunch of cars, including my teammates. I prefer to be out there attacking the track on my own and I was able to put together some consistent laps. The car feels good, so we€™ll see what happens tomorrow in qualifying when it matters. It seems that last year I was quick in practice and peaked too early so I have to figure out how to wait and do it at the right time.€Kleinubing was just 0.016-second off teammate Cunningham€™s pace with a 2:05.943 (87.125 mph). Wittmer€™s afternoon time was another 0.014-second back placing the top three within 0.030-second.Chip Herr was third fastest in the afternoon session, sixth fastest on the day, with a 2:06.112 (87.008 mph) in the No. 97 Tindol Motorsports MAZDA6. Rookie Jason Saini was fifth in the afternoon session with a 2:06.186 (86.957 mph) in his No. 73 MAZDASPEED/Stoptech/Racinghart MAZDA6.Overall on the day, Wittmer€™s 2:05.799 was best, followed by Saini€™s morning session time of 2:05.916 (87.143 mph), Cunningham€™s afternoon time of 2:05.927 was third best on the day, followed by Kleinubing€™s afternoon time and Espenlaub€™s morning time.Qualifying for Sunday€™s race will be held at 12:55 p.m. (MDT) Saturday afternoon.
