Kleinubing on Lime Rock Park Pole for Saturday’s SPEED Touring Car Race

LAKEVILLE, Conn. (May 23, 2008) €“ Pierre Kleinubing, of Coconut Creek, Fla., earned his second-consecutive Lime Rock Park pole for Saturday€™s SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Touring Car Round Four race, part of an SCCA SPEED Touring Car doubleheader. Current point leader Kuno Wittmer, of Montreal, Que., will start second.Earning his third-career pole at Lime Rock Park, Kleinubing set the pole time, a 57.975 seconds (95.006 mph), on his first flying lap. This will be the second year in-a-row Kleinubing has started SCCA SPEED Touring Car race at Lime Rock Park from pole. The driver of the No. 43 Acura/RealTime/Eibach/Red Line Acura TSX also has four wins to his credit at Lime Rock Park and seems to have an affinity for the seven-turn, 1.53-mile course.€œI don€™t think it€™s just me, if you look at the grid I think it€™s RealTime,€ Kleinubing said. €œWe seem to have the setup and every time we come here, it shows. Hopefully, that will be the case for Monday€™s race as well.€Kleinubing€™s stellar record at Lime Rock Park took a hit last year, when car trouble dropped him out of the lead, but doesn€™t feel the track owes him anything this time around.€œI was telling [team owner] Peter on the way here from the airport, €˜this is a losing sport; you are going to lose a lot more than you€™re gonna win.€™ You learn from what happens to you. We learned from what happened here last year and that€™s never going to happen again. You just move on and look forward.€Wittmer, who was fastest in practice, will start alongside his teammate in the No. 44 Acura/RealTime/Eibach/Red Line Acura TSX. The current SCCA SPEED Touring Car point leader entered a time of 58.078 seconds (94.838 mph).Last year€™s Lime Rock Park race winner, Chip Herr, of Lititz, Pa., will start third in the No. 97 Tindol Motorsports MAZDA6. Herr clocked a lap of 58.168 seconds (94.691 mph).RealTime team owner Peter Cunningham, of Milwaukee, Wis., will start Saturday€™s race from the fourth grid spot. The No. 42 Acura/RealTime/Eibach/Red Line Acura TSX driver entered a time of 58.196 seconds (94.645 mph).Seth Thomas, of Cumming, Ga., leads the BMW contingent on the grid, starting fifth for Saturday€™s race. Thomas stopped the clocks with a 58.540 seconds (94.645 mph) in his No. 38 BimmerWorld BMW 325i. Winner of the most recent round at Miller Motorsports Park Jason Saini (MAZDA6) will start the race from sixth. Fellow Mazda driver Michael Galati will start seventh in a backup car after a crash in practice.James Sofronas (BMW 325Ci), Charles Espenlaub (MAZDA6) and James Clay (BMW 325i) complete the top 10.Roxbury, Conn. driver Jason Martinelli lost an engine in practice and was not able to ready the car in time for qualifying. He will start shotgun on the field Saturday.The first of two SCCA SPEED Touring Car races at Lime Rock Park this weekend will go green at 1:45 p.m. (EDT) Saturday, May 24.
