Rayhall Sweeps New Jersey Formula Enterprises Weekend

MILLVILLE, N.J. (May 10, 2010) -- Sean Rayhall, of Winston, Ga., became the youngest winner in the history of SCCA Pro Racing when he swept the SCCA Pro Racing Formula Enterprises doubleheader weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park. At 15 years, two months, and two days, the young driver took advantage of a new-for-2010 SCCA Pro Racing rule that allows qualified 15-year-old drivers to participate in SCCA Pro Racing events to capture two pole positions, two race wins, and two fastest race laps in the two-day event. In both races, Rayhall led from the pole in the No. 11 1st Action Serv/Advanced Envir Formula Enterprises and immediately began to pull away, with his closest challenge coming from Scott Rettich. Rettich, who swept the SCCA Pro Spec Racer Ford event during the same weekend, couldn€™t match Rayhall€™s pace over the course of the pair of 25-lap races and earned a pair of runner-up finishes in the No. 17 HIPPI Racing/Springboro Car Wash Formula Enterprises. Rayhall captured Saturday€™s 56.25-mile race by 6.147-seconds, averaging 96.888 mph. Sunday€™s race was run at an even faster pace, covering the same distance with an average speed of 99.702 mph. Rayhall set the fastest lap in both races, with Sunday€™s 1:20.201 (100.996 mph) establishing a new series race lap record. Saturday€™s final margin of victory was 6.147-seconds, with Sunday€™s margin reaching 7.962 seconds. SCCA Pro Racing Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup driver Nick Evans, in the No. 91 Jay Motorsports/BuckholzWall Formula Enterprises, finished third during Saturday€™s round three race. His Jay Motorsports teammate, Matt Schneider, finished fourth, with Mathew Mair finishing fifth in the No. 33 Mair Racing Formula Enterprises. Mair finished third on Sunday, followed by Evans and Schneider. At the midway point in the eight-race season, Rettich retains the SCCA Pro Formula Enterprises championship lead, with 472 points. Rayhall (462) trails by 10, followed by Mair (409) and Schneider (385). Complete results and point standings are available at www.sccapro.com.
