TOPEKA, Kan. (April 11, 2014) – The Pirelli World Challenge makes its second stop on the 2014 calendar to compete on the streets of Long Beach, Calif., for a single race as part of the Long Beach Grand Prix. Each racing lap of the GT-, GT-A- and GTS-only event can be found live online through www.world-challengetv.com.

The addition of the FIA GT3 cars to this year’s GT field was a huge point of focus heading into St. Petersburg. After Tomas Enge notched the Round Two win behind the wheel of one of the GT3-classed Lamborghini Gallardo FL2s, following the cancellation of the opening round, the intrigue surrounding the GT battle will grow as the season wears on.

However, Cadillac has not backed down as serious contenders in Pirelli World Challenge competition. Andy Pilgrim drove to a second-place finish at St. Pete and both he, and his teammate Johnny O’Connell, will be looking to notch a win on the countries opposite coast.

The GT-A classification, aimed at non-professional drivers, is an additional wrinkle for this year. Following a podium finish in the season opener, Andrew Palmer was moved to the normal GT category. Nick Mancuso now leads the GT-A point standing after a fifth-place finish at St. Petersburg.

The top-three GTS finishers from two weeks ago are the same drivers who spent last season embroiled in a fierce battle for the lead in the championship drivers’ standings. Lawson Aschenbach opened his title defense with a win, closely followed by Any Lee and Jack Baldwin. This may prove to be an entertaining and compelling three-way fight that continues through to the end of the 2014 season.
