As part of our new partnership with the American Le Mans Series, one SCCA member will be honored in each American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón television broadcast as the SCCA Star Performer. Robert Thorne and Chip Van Vurst have already been recognized in the Lime Rock and Mosport broadcasts, respectively, and the third recipient will be named this weekend, when the ALMS travels to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge. The Star Performer will be revealed during Saturday afternoons live broadcast on ESPN3.com (3:15 p.m. EDT) and Sundays tape-delayed presentation on ESPN2 (10 p.m. EDT). The SCCA Star Performer is selected by a panel of judges, based on recent efforts in SCCAs national Club Racing, Solo and Rally programs. The recipient will be someone who shined above the rest, epitomizing the passion, effort and success within their performance. Coverage of this weekends Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge begins Friday, Aug. 5, with live qualifying on ESPN3.com at 2:20 p.m. (EDT). Live coverage of the race is also available on ESPN3.com Saturday, Aug. 6 beginning at 3:15 p.m. (EDT). The television broadcast on ESPN2 will be aired on Sunday, Aug. 7, beginning at 10 p.m. SCCA members are also encouraged to enter a sweepstakes for a trip for two to Round 8 of the American Le Mans Series at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The trip includes luxury oceanfront hotel accommodations and VIP hospitality provided by Tequila Patrón. Autocon Racing will also host a special opportunity for the sweepstakes winner, but only if they are an SCCA member. Registering for the contest is easy. Simply visit www.americanlemans.com/scca to make sure you get your chance to win a once-in-a lifetime trip!
