PACKWOOD, Wash. The Tire Rack® SCCA ProSolo series wrapped up its regular season this past weekend at Hampton Mills under the watchful gaze of Mt. Rainer. Unlike The Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Tour that breezed through the area the previous weekend, the Packwood ProSolo was blessed with dry, albeit cool, weather all weekend. The low temps and tight Karen Babb-designed courses seemed to give a slight edge to the all-wheel drive entrants, with six AWD cars taking class wins and seven finishing runner-up.Not so in the Hawk Super Challenge however, where the D Stock RapidHosting.com Acura Integra of Kinch Reindl, from Denver, Colo., faced off against the Kumho/Forgeline Pontiac Solstice of C Stock winner Mike Lillejord, of Redmond, Wash. Fast Mike, gave Reindl everything he had, even spinning out in the finish box on his final run, but Reindl sped away the victor.Reindl nearly pulled a sweep of the Honda Tuner Challenge as well, but was outfoxed by Street Touring® S winner Kevin McCormick, of Lincoln, Calif., in his Kumho/HAP/Americas Tire/Bilstein Honda Civic Si.Ladies 2 class winner, Christine Berry, of Alta Loma, Calif., who also started her ProSolo season with a Ladies 2 victory at El Toro, marched through the Ladies Challenge to victory in her Mitsubishi Evo.The Bonus Challenge was sweet redemption for Allan Zacharda, of Sherwood, Ore., who had placed last in the super competitive D Street Prepared class, but piloted his Mini Cooper S to the Challenge win.B Stock was the tightest contest of the event, the lead exchanging hands with each round. The AXAnalyst/Austin-Soft.com Nissan 350Z of Glenn Austin, from Snoqualmie, Wash., held the lead at the conclusion of Saturdays runs, but Matthew Braun, of Northville, Mich., in a PowerPlug Mazda RX-8 wrestled away the win in his final run by a mere 0.081-second.Even more frantic lead changes occurred in the Ladies 1 class, where the top five were separated by 0.731-second. Come Sunday, Kristi Brown, of Des Moines, Wash., emerged the winner in a K&K Racing/Team BH/Jims Detail Shop Mini Cooper S.With the regular season over, ProSolo competitors now begin preparations for The Tire Rack ® SCCA ProSolo National Championship, Sept. 21 22, at Heartland Park Topeka.
