Solo Tour Resumes in Texas, Evo School Debuts

TOPEKA, Kan. (May 2, 2008) €“ After more than a month off, The Tire Rack® SCCA Solo National Tour is back underway and returning to Texas Motor Speedway for the first time since 2001. Evolution Performance Driving Schools will join the Tour at Texas as the newly appointed Official Driving School of The Tire Rack SCCA Solo Program. Well known throughout the Solo community, Evolution Driving Schools have long offered drivers a chance to hone their cone-skirting skills. Beginning in Texas, however, Evolution Performance Driving Schools will have classes at each stop of the 2008 Tire Rack National Solo Season, except at the Devens Tour due to site accessibility limitations. €œIn addition to our existing line-up of schools, Evolution will be on the road with SCCA hosting the new Evo Advantage School before every Tire Rack Solo National Tour event, as well as a soon to be announced school before every Tire Rack ProSolo Series event that will focus on start line techniques,€ Evolution Performance Driving Schools Managing Partner Pat Salerno said. €œSoloists are invited to visit www.evoschool.com to learn more about our full line of schools and to sign up.€ Schools will run on Friday morning, prior to the usual Test and Tune, and be open to all participants for a price of $65. Walk-ups will be accepted at the Texas Tour, just visit the SCCA trailer, but classes are capped at 20 students each. Gerry Terranova and Neal Bellamy are the scheduled instructors in Texas. €œThe Tire Rack Solo National Tour program has a long history of having an instructional component being a part of the events, so designating Evolution Performance Driving Schools as the Official Driving School is a natural extension of that heritage and we look forward to this being a benefit to our members as they strive to improve their driving skills,€ SCCA Vice President of Rally & Solo Howard Duncan said. More than 200 entrants have registered for this weekend€™s Texas Tour with courses designed by Greg Piper. All participants will be treated to an all-you-can-eat Texas BBQ on Saturday night, hosted by the Texas Region.Click the Solo tab at the top of the page for more results as they become available.
