SCCA ProSolo Finale Begins Saturday

LINCOLN, Neb. (Sept. 3, 2009) €“ The conclusion of the 2009 Tire Rack® SCCA ProSolo National Series takes place this weekend, Sept. 5 €“ 6, in Lincoln, Neb., at the Lincoln Airpark. While a stand alone event in itself, with trophies and prizes going to event winners, the ProSolo Finale is also the final opportunity drivers have to score points toward a season-long Championship. This is the second trip to Lincoln Airpark for the ProSolo series, which had the opportunity to preview the site during the TireRack SCCA Lincoln ProSolo event in May. That event was won by Abe Potter, of Renton, Wash., who is entered in this weekend€™s ProSolo Finale, although not in the F Street Prepared BMW he drove in May. Instead, you€™ll find Potter behind the wheel of a Street Touring® Ultra SurgelineTuning/FordahlMotorsports Subaru WRX STi. Potter is one of approximately 250 entries for this year€™s event, with A Modified the largest class by far, at 30 entries.F Stock competitor Sam Strano, of Knoxdale, Pa., arrives in Lincoln with the ProSolo Super Challenge point lead. Strano currently has 88 points, followed by B Street Prepared driver Tom Berry, of Alta Loma, Calif., with 65 points. Scott McHugh, of Santa Clarita, Calif., who competes in A Stock, is right on Berry€™s tail with 63 points. The Ladies Challenge points are quite close with Leslie Cohen, of Cardiff By The Sea, Calif., leading Meredith Brown, of Los Alamos, N.M., by only four points (106 to 102). The two are tied for the LC1 class Championship as well. Ladies 2 competitor Anne Bauer, of Renton, Wash., isn€™t far behind Cohen and Brown, with 99 points. There€™s a tie atop the Honda Tuner Challenge standings, as both James Feinberg, of Cary, N.C., and Kinch Reindl, of Denver, Colo., each enter the Finale with 111 points. Instead of his usual D Stock ride, however, Feinberg has entered a Toyota MR2 in E Stock, making him ineligible for the Honda Tuner Challenge this weekend. Street Touring driver Ken Motonishi, of Orange, Calif., is currently third in the Honda Tuner Challenge points, with 104.The ProSolo Finale begins with class competition on Saturday. Following the conclusion of class competition on Sunday, brackets will be set and drivers will be eliminated one at a time in the Challenge rounds. The weekend concludes with an awards banquet at the Embassy Suites in Lincoln, scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. (CDT).Recaps and full results from the Tire Rack SCCA ProSolo Finale will be posted to www.scca.com as they become available.
