SCCA RallyCross Eastern States Championship Round Two in the Books

ORANGE, Va. (June 20, 2007) - Oakland Acres hosted the first of two back-to-back Eastern States Championship events on the SCCA National RallyCross Series calendar this past weekend. In addition to setting the fastest stage two time of the event, Rob Bergstrom took the Modified Two-Wheel category over Reynaldo Veintemillas. Despite driving the same Nissan Sentra SER as Bergstrom and collecting zero penalties, Veintemillas could not match Bergstrom€™s pace and would finish nearly a minute behind. Mario Vega finished third in a Honda Civic, just 18 seconds behind Veintemillas.Kevin Allen captured Modified Four-Wheel honors and set the fastest stage one and three times of the event driving a Subaru Impreza. Ted Cooper, in another Impreza, was nipping at Allen€™s heels in each run and mirrored his error-free Sunday, but would have to settle for second.Prepared All-Wheel Drive was a nail-biter to the finish. Driving a Subaru WRX Wagon, Lucas Laeser led the class at the conclusion of events on Saturday, but was edged in each of the Sunday runs by Orion Fairman in a Subaru Impreza, which gave Fairman the overall win by a mere 1.62 seconds. Subaru scored another one-two finish in Stock All-Wheel drive, where Ron Foley drove his WRX to victory over Matthew Kane in an Impreza. Tyler Brown and Brian Cassidy represented the domestic brands at Oakland Acres. Brown took the Prepared Front-Wheel Drive category in a Dodge SRT-4, while Brian Cassidy was the Stock Front-Wheel Drive victor in his Ford Focus.Prepared Rear-Wheel Drive was mastered by Brent Bousman in a VW Karmann Ghia. Bousman had a close fight with the Toyota Tacoma of Chris Lanctot, but pulled out the win by nearly 30 seconds.RallyCross National Series competitors barely have enough time to clean off their cars before the next Eastern States Championship takes place this weekend, June 24, at New England Dragway, in Epping, N.H.For full results from Oakland Acres and more information on the RallyCross National Championship visit the RallyCross pages of SCCA.com.
