The City of Lincoln Health Department has approved SCCA’s application to hold the Tire Rack SCCA Solo Nationals at Lincoln Airpark, September 7-11. Within the approved application there are a number of policies and procedures that will need to be put in place, which requires both members and staff to rethink how the event is both designed and executed.

To allow bandwidth for this, and to reduce risk to the host city, the SCCA National Staff—with guidance from the Solo Events Board (SEB) and Board of Directors (BoD)—have made the difficult decision to cancel the back-to-back events known as “Lincoln Summer Nationals,” scheduled for August 19-23.

The cancellation will help facilitate our continued focus on delivering a fun, safe and competitive experience at Solo Nationals in September. However, the approval of the SCCA application is not final and binding, as the city reserves the right to revoke the license should the climate shift between now and the event date.

Much of the feedback received around the fate of Solo Nationals has focused on protecting the strong partnership SCCA has with the City of Lincoln and the Lincoln Airport Authority. We want to assure participants that #ProtectLincoln is one of our top priorities in this decision-making process, and the largest consideration in the decision to cancel “Lincoln Summer Nationals.”

Active Solo participants should expect to receive a communication detailing the parameters of 2020 Solo Nationals along with a survey about Solo Nationals next week. At that time, there will also be an opportunity for those wishing to withdraw from the event to do so at a 100% refund and we will ask participants to ensure that their entry status reflects an interest in attending.

A final decision on whether there will be a 2020 Solo Nationals—and if so, the design of the event—will be announced during a Solo Town Hall scheduled for the evening of August 5. Please register to join us via GoToWebinar.
