TOLEDO, Ohio (July 2, 2014) – Jason Frank, of Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, took The Tire Rack® SCCA ProSolo® Super Challenge win at the Toledo Express Airport this past weekend. Chris Peterson, of Hillsborough, North Carolina, capped the day off with a win in the Ladies Challenge.

Temperatures in the high 80s with the constant threat of precipitation were the conditions faced by the 263 entrants. While it may not have been a ‘Chamber of Commerce’ weekend, the tight competition that has become the standard in The Tire Rack SCCA Solo division made for a sold-out event.

Frank (Street Touring Sport, Team Undercoat Racing Honda CRX Si) started Sunday’s Super Challenge bracket competition from the 24th of 32 seeded positions after placing second in his class. His first-round opponent was the number nine seed of Mike Snyder.

Snyder (Street Touring Sport, SSC Tint & Graphics/ Honda CRX Si), who beat Frank for the weekend’s class win by 0.197-second, could not repeat his feat in the challenge round. Frank’s win put him into the second round where he met David White.

White (Bump Class, g Fab Nissan 240SX) was downed by Frank, allowing Frank to move on in the single-elimination bracket. His next matchup came against Mike Kline (Kart Modified, T.S. Garp 2nd Gear Racing GRG Road Rebel Honda). Frank managed to tally another win, advancing him the semi-final round.

In the semis, Frank took out Dave Ogburn III (E Street Prepared, Ford Mustang). That win earned him a spot in the Super Challenge Final, in which he faced class winner Chris Harvey (C Street, Tire Rack Mazda MX-5).

Harvey got to the final from the 31st seed. His record included wins over Darren Seltzer (Race Tire Index 1, Raptor F500) and Jeff Mabrey (Street Touring Compact, Honda Civic) in the first two rounds, in that order. Don Slevin (Street Touring X, Scion FR-S) was the next to fall to Harvey, in the quarter-final round. Harvey’s final step came after he beat John Vitamvas (SP Index B, Strano Parts/PF Tuning/Agile Auto BMW 330 Ci) in the semis.

When all was said and done, Frank ended up at the top of the Super Challenge heap after beating Harvey. Vitamvas completed the podium after winning the third-place runoff against Ogburn.

In the Ladies Challenge tournament bracket, Peterson (Ladies Class 2, Toyota Spyder) faced Rachel Baker (Ladies Class 1, Pixie Posse Racing/Thanks Tony and Jeff Chevrolet Corvette) in the opening round and emerged the victor.

In the semi-finals, Peterson lined up against Holly Schwedler (Ladies Class 3, Don! Scion FR-S) and took home the win, earning her a spot in the finals against Hilary Anderson (Ladies Class 3, Team Undercoat Racing/Meineke Honda CRX Si).

Anderson took out Jocelin Huang (Ladies Class 2, The Alignment Guy Porsche GT3), in the opening round, and Mina Ingraham (James Dooley Racing/Johnson Tuning Subaru WRX STi), in the second round, to get to the finals. In the end, Peterson could not be stopped, as she went on to take the Ladies Challenge win. Ingraham captured the final podium step, beating Schwedler in the third-place runoff.

Ian Baker (Street Touring Sport, Toyo Tires/Strano Parts/SSC Tint Honda CRX Si), of Herndon, Virginia, took home top honors in the Bonus Challenge.

The next stop for The Tire Rack SCCA ProSolo tour will be at the Hampton Mills Lumber Yard in Packwood, Washington, July 12-13.
