TOPEKA, Kan. (March 15, 2013) – Beginning with this weekend’s Tire Rack SCCA Dixie Match Tour event, competitors at every Tire Rack ProSolo and Tire Rack National Tour event will have a host of companies offering contingency prizes for top finishes.
Programs are offered for class wins at Championship and Match Tour events, and, in many cases, for both class and challenge wins at ProSolo events.
BFGoodrich Tires, the Official Street Tire of SCCA, offers a sizeable program to both formats, with winners in all three formats getting two free tires per event. Class runner-up and third place finishers at Match and Championship Tour events will receive a single tire, as will runners-up in ProSolo. Win a Super or Ladies Challenge? You’ll take home two more for a win, and one more for making it to the finals. Year-end points leaders and year-end challenge leaders will get four tires, while second in class at the season’s end will earn two more tires.
Hoosier Racing Tire runs a program identical to the offerings of BFGoodrich Tires for the top-two finishers, in all scenarios. Regardless of the format, Hankook Tire offers $300 for a class win, $200 for a runner-up, and $100 for third-place to eligible cars.
Drivers in the Street Touring Category will get a bump from Kumho Tires, with $600 in product credit for a class win, no matter the format. $400 will go to a class runner-up, and $300 to third place. Those payouts double Kumho’s payments to other category top finishers. In Pro Solo, Kumho also offers $300 credit for a challenge win, $200 for making the finals, and $150 for winning the consolation race. Four Kumho Tires will also go to an eligible season-long class or challenge winner.
Toyo Tires offers eligible top-finishers $300 for class wins in either series, $200 for a runner-up, and $100 for third place. In ProSolo, challenge winners will earn an additional $500. Year-end point titles in class net $1000 for a win, $500 for second, and $250 for third, with an additional $1,000 going toward a Challenge Championship.
Like the tire manufacturers, the automotive manufacturers are supporting the programs in a big way.
A class win in either format earns $250 from Mazda, with $125 for a runner-up finish. A challenge win, including the Bonus Challenge, is worth $400 to a winner in ProSolo, with $200 for falling short in the finals. A ProSolo season-long point title in class garners a $1,000 prize, with second-place scoring $500 and third $300. A year-end challenge crown pays $600 for a win, $300 for second, and $150 for third.
MINI USA is rewarding drivers who win their class in both formats with cash, as well. First place drivers will get $250, with $100 and $50 for respective podium finishes. Eligible winners in a car powered by Volkswagen of America can take home up to $550 for a win in a National Tour event, with $400 for second place and $250 for third. In ProSolo, a class win nets $450, with $250 and $150 for the next two positions in class. A challenge win garners $800 for a win, $500 for making the final two, and $250 for third. Season-long ProSolo Championships notch even more from VW. A class win will score $1,000 (with $600 and $300 for the next two places) and a year-long Challenge prize notches $5,000 (with $2,000 for runner-up and $1,000 for third).
Toyota/TRD, Scion Racing and Honda Performance Development are all supporting the Tire Rack ProSolo Series. A win in either a Toyota or a Scion in class will pay $200, and a year-end point or Challenge championship pays $1,000. A second-in-class finish in a Scion FR-S will also pay $100. Honda is dishing out $150 for a class win, $100 for second, and $50 for third at each event. An event challenge pays $500, as does a season-ending title. Finishing as runner-up at season’s end nets $300, with $100 for third.
Subaru is pitching in $150 for a class win in eligible classes, with $100 for a runner-up and $50 for third.
The Tire Rack Match Tour gets underway this weekend with the Dixie Match Tour in Adel, Ga., while the Tire Rack ProSolo Championship begins April 6-7 with the El Toro ProSolo in Irvine, Calif.
