TOPEKA, Kan. (Dec. 14, 2007) – The Sports Car Club of America announced today 12 events that currently compose the 2008 RallyCross National Challenge schedule.
Taking lessons learned from the 2007 season, the SCCA RallyCross department sought to create a simpler and more streamlined format for the 2008 season. The Divisional, National and Series points championships have been replaced by 11 stand-alone National Challenge events leading up to the RallyCross National Championship at Nashville Superspeedway in October, which will be winner-takes-all event. Additional National Challenge events may be added at a later date.
Each of the RallyCross National Challenge events will receive support from SCCA National Staff and entrants will be eligible for contingency awards. Two of the National Challenge events have been designated as Eastern and Western Championships. The Eastern Championship event will be held at Summit Point Motorsports Park, June 14 -15, in Summit Point, W.V. The Western Championship event will be held at Washington County Fairplex, in Hillsboro, Ore., June 28 – 29. These events will provide those competitors planning on attending the RallyCross National Championship with a chance to size-up their biggest competition, while also giving those who cannot make the trip to Tennessee a chance to earn Eastern or Western Championship bragging rights.
The first RallyCross event is just around the corner, January 26 – 27, and could be a snowy one at Stafford Speedway in Connecticut. Visit www.scca.com/rally for more information.
