Region Cup Winners Announced
The 2011 Region Cup winners were announced at this year’s SCCA National Convention. The Cups were awarded to the top performing regions in the established SCCA Jumbo, Large, Medium and Small categories. Scores were determined by awarding a single point for each driver from a region, plus one point for every driver each driver finished ahead of. In addition, each entrant from a region who was a designated rookie received 10 points and regions who came to Nationals with a region t-shirt.
The Jumbo Region Cup went to Cal Club with a total of 1152 points, finishing in the top spot over all and 346 points ahead of second place over all, Milwaukee Region. The Washington DC Region was in the third spot followed by San Francisco and Chicago Regions.
In the Large category, Northwest took the win over Texas and San Diego Regions. In addition, the Northwest Region claimed the 3rd overall spot with 773 points. Texas was represented twice in the top 5 of the Large category as the Houston Region took the 4th spot with Land O’ Lakes rounding out the top 5.
Solo Nationals Host Region, Nebraska took the Cup for Medium Regions by 158 points over the nearby Kansas Region. Northeast Ohio slotted into the 3rd spot with Tennessee and South Carolina taking the 4th and 5th spots.
Not to be out done, the Lone Star region not only won the Small Region Category, they also placed ahead of all the medium regions, and all but two of the Large. Arizona Boarder Region took second in the Small category, followed by South Bend, Central Kentucky and Arkansas.
