ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (Sept. 19, 2011) – The 48th SCCA National Championship Runoffs® got off to a wet start Monday morning, as heavy evening rain wet down the historic 4-mile Road America track in time for Monday’s opening round qualifications.

The rain continued through the opening sessions, but has stopped as of 10 a.m., although the skies are still cloudy and threatening.
Monday marks the first of four qualifying days for this weekend’s National Championship races. Results for each session are posted at, and there are a variety of live timing broadcast options available and linked through that page.
The SCCA National Championship Runoffs®, The Pinnacle of American Motorsports, will crown Sports Car Club of America’s Club Racing National Champions for the 48th-consecutive year in 2011. The best amateur drivers from across North America convene on Road America’s historic four-mile road course in what is considered the “Olympics” of motorsports. This year’s event begins with three days of qualifying, Sept. 19-22, and concludes with three days of racing, Sept. 23-25.
