Northern Conference, Grand Touring 2
Trent Hindman, of Asbury Park, N.J., has been able to achieve something very unique compared to his fellow high school classmates, from which graduated this year – he captured the Northern Conference GT-2 Majors Championship.
“Winning the Majors Championship is definitely a big milestone in my career,” Hindman said. “It makes me feel confident that I am ready to move onto the next step and continue in my education and development as a driver. Competing in the Majors Tour has been tough. With a lot of very quick and experienced drivers running in GT-2, it definitely was a good place to learn and improve my driving.”
Making the switch from open-wheel cars has been a bit of a challenge for Hindman. However, the challenges have paid off, especially getting the chance to race at the first purpose-built Formula One track in the United States.
“The whole facility is incredible, but the track is something else,” Hindman said. “Driving the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car around there was an experience I'll never forget. It was just the perfect car/track combination.”
In four conference races, Hindman drove the No. 41 Cirroco & Ozzimo/DFL Porsche 911 GT3 to four victories from the pole. His wins came at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and Road America.
Hindman wanted to be sure thank some very important people, whom without their help this year’s championship run would not have been possible.
“First of all, a huge thank you to my parents,” Hindman said. “We had to sacrifice a lot to go racing this year and I'm glad it all worked out in the end.
“Also, a massive thank you goes out to the whole Fall-Line organization. Those guys worked their butts off week in, and week out to give me a competitive car and one I was able to win with.
“I'd also like to say thank you to all of my partners: Cirocco & Ozzimo, Atlas Acon Electrical Service Corp., DFL Interiors, Racelite Protection and Anders Krohn and Jonny Baker of CoForce International for all of their support throughout the season.
“Last, but not least, I'd like to thank Michael Harvey and Mark Boden for giving me the opportunity to run with Fall-Line.”
