Super Tour FAQ

The formation of a new program such as the BFGoodrich Tires SCCA Super Tour often prompts a number of questions. If you have a question that is not on this list about the program, please contact Deanna Flanagan or 800-770-2055.

What makes these events different?

The concept of the BFGoodrich Tires SCCA Super Tour is to take some of the elements of the National Championship Runoffs on the road, not unlike the Tire Rack SCCA National Tour does in the Solo community. There will be complete coverage of the event on, Live Timing & Scoring, victory laps with commemorative Super Tour flags, podium celebrations with champagne sprays, special giveaways at the BFGoodrich Tires Participant Party and more.

Why isn’t there a BFGoodrich Tires Super Tour event in every Division?

Super Tour events for 2011 were targeted based on the events designated as Super Sweep qualifying events. In the launch season of 2011, only six events could be supported. The Super Tour program came about after the Super Sweep events were identified and some of these events could not commit to support the program requirements for one reason or another. Additionally, the Super Tour will use common resources throughout the season and therefore cannot manage more than one event on a given weekend. The program will support one Super Tour event in each of the nine Divisions in 2012. These events have yet to be identified and just because an event is designated as a Super Tour event in 2011 does not mean that the others in that Division will not be considered in future years.

I use a brand of tires different from BFGoodrich Tires, is that a problem?

There are no limitations with regard to the brand of tires a racer can run or promote with decals on their cars or logos on their team uniforms or driver’s suit.

I have a tire sponsor that precludes me from advertising another tire brand.

Can I still compete in these events? Absolutely. Drivers will not be required to advertise BFGoodrich Tires on their vehicles, although they are encouraged to run the BFGoodrich Tires SCCA Super Tour decals available at each event. Event winners will be provided special decals to accompany the Super Tour decals to wear with pride all year.

Do the Super Tour events count differently in my Divisional or National point championships?

No. BFGoodrich Tires Super Tour events pay the same amount of points for Divisional and National Point standings.

What do I get for winning a Super Tour event?

In addition to the event trophies from the Region and the National Event Winner decal, you will receive the commemorative logo checkered flag and event specific winner decals. Additionally, BFGoodrich is working to finalize a prize package for top competitors throughout the entire season. Details will be announced at a later date.

What is the difference between the Super Tour and the Super Sweep?

The Super Tour is a collection of events while the Super Sweep is an award. There are nine events that serve as qualifying events for the Super Sweep award, and in the past two years these events have casually been known as “Super Sweep races.” Not every Super Sweep qualifying race is a Super Tour event, but every Super Tour event is a qualifying race for the Super Sweep award. The intention in 2012 is to make these events one in the same in each Division. The Super Sweep award requirements for 2011 remain the same as 2010.
