The Sports Car Club of America™ has an award that has long stood above all others: the Woolf Barnato Award. This honor is presented annually to a member who has made an outstanding long-term contribution to the Club. Where this award differs from the likes of the SCCA Hall of Fame, Member of Excellence, and more, is that not only has this award been around since nearly the foundation of the SCCA, but it’s the three previous recipients that decide who the next award winner will be.
Named after Woolf Barnato, a racer from the early-to-mid 1900s with a fascinating past that includes ownership of Bentley and winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans three times, the Woolf Barnato Award was first presented in 1948 to Cameron R. Argetsinger, the moving force behind the creation of SCCA’s first road races at Watkins Glen. Other recipients include Briggs Cunningham, Mark Donohue, Bob Charp, Costa Dunias, Carl Haas, and more.
The most recent three recipients – Nicholas Craw, Paul Pfanner, and Rocky Entriken – would like to extend the reach of their nomination pool for the next award, and they are asking that if you know of someone who should be considered for the next Woolf Barnato Award that you submit their information via the form below.
Before you do, though, click this link, then tap the “SCCA Awards” link followed by “Woolf Barnato Award” to discover who has been a recipient in the past.
The nomination deadline is Nov. 15, 2025, with the Woolf Barnato Award winner being announced during the Hall of Fame and Award Banquet at the 2026 SCCA National Convention.
