Super Lap Battle Invite One of Several Awards to be Handed Out at Tire Rack SCCA Time Trials Nationals Powered by Hagerty

TOPEKA, Kan. (Sept. 19, 2019) -- A bevy of accolades will be up for grabs during the 2019 Tire Rack Time Trials Nationals Powered by Hagerty taking place September 26-29 at NCM Motorsports Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky. And thanks to an arrangement between Sports Car Club of America® (SCCA®) and Global Time Attack (GTA), the featured award will be an invite to the 2020 Super Lap Battle.

Earlier this year, SCCA and GTA reached an agreement where SCCA, through its SCCA Pro Racing division, became the official sanctioning body for 2019 GTA events across the United States. The agreement included a licensing program, cooperative events and a chance for top-performing SCCA Time Trials drivers to earn their way into GTA events.

At SCCA Time Trials Nationals this year, the top driver will earn the invite to compete at the Super Lap Battle scheduled for February 15-16, 2020, at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. But claiming that grand prize will certainly not be easy as nearly 190 entries from across the country will be trying their hardest on NCM Motorsports Park’s Grand Course to earn the cherished invitation during Time Trials Nationals.

Beyond the Super Lap Battle invite, there will be a lot more “hardware” handed out during Time Trials Nationals. Holley Performance Products is offering trophies to the Fastest Front-Wheel Drive Ford, the Fastest Rear-Wheel Drive Ford, Fastest All-Wheel Drive Ford, and Most Improved Ford. Grassroots Motorsports and Classic Motorsports magazines are also aboard the trophy train with awards going to the True Grassroots competitor, Fastest Classic, and the Ultimate Innovation award that includes an invitation to the Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge. Of course, there will also be SCCA trophies, presented by KONI, which include: Top Time Street Legal, Top Time Overall, Top Time Driven to Event, Spirit of Time Trials, Workers’ Choice, and Top Novice. Additionally, trophies will be awarded to the top-three finishers across 20 different competition classes.

SCCA Time Trials are motorsport events where drivers challenge themselves and their vehicles to achieve a personal best time on a full road racing circuit or segment of track. Offering an easy, fun entry into motorsports, vehicles used at SCCA® Time Trials range from unmodified road cars to highly modified creations showcasing advanced automotive engineering techniques.
