At A Glance: '19 Watkins Glen Hoosier Super Tour

Storylines/Things to Watch:

Final Eastern Weekend -- The Hoosier Super Tour stop June 21-23 at Watkins Glen International in New York is the 10th of 11 race weekends on the 2019 schedule. However, this will be the last event of the series in the Eastern United States as the very last Hoosier Super Tour event will take place later in July on the West Coast at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Salinas, California.

Another Strong Showing -- This weekend’s event at Watkins Glen International has nearly 300 entries across seven race groups. As usual, the Spec Racer Ford Gen3 class is well represented with 55 drivers, followed by Spec Miata with nearly 30 entries. The Touring classes are well represented, too, as Touring 1, Touring 2, Touring 4 and Super Touring® Lite all have a dozen or more racers competing this weekend. Formula Vee® will also be one to watch with 14 aces taking to the track.

Nice Weekend for Racing -- Friday, June 21, is the official start to summer, and it looks like Watkins Glen will have some pleasant weather. Temperatures all three days will be in the upper 70s to low 80s, and no precipitation is currently forecasted for race days -- but the venue will be a little “damp” due to rains earlier in the week. It’ll be a great weekend to come out and enjoy the action trackside. Spectators can purchase tickets at Gate 2, and prices are only $35 for a weekend pass or $30 for Sunday tickets. Those 19 years old and younger are admitted free. If you can’t be trackside, follow along with live timing/scoring, video, Super Tour Radio presented by Hoosier Racing Tire and more at www.scca.com/live.

Honorable Weekend -- SCCA’s Finger Lakes Region, which is hosting the Hoosier Super Tour at Watkins Glen International, will be working with Honor Flight Rochester over the course of the weekend. Fifteen volunteers, all veterans, will be helping in Timing & Scoring, Tech and elsewhere. Honor Flight is a private, not-for-profit organization created solely to honor America’s Veterans for their many sacrifices. This weekend’s “worker fund” will be donated to Honor Flight Rochester, and donation cannisters will be located around the venue for those that want to chip in.
