At A Glance: '19 Road Atlanta Hoosier Super Tour

Storylines/Things to Watch:

A Hoosier Super Tour First – This weekend at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta marks the very first time a Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA Super Tour event has taken place at that track. However, the SCCA has been part of the track’s history since racing started there nearly 50 years ago. The multi-purpose motor sports facility is situated on 750 acres in the rolling hills of Northeast Georgia, and the challenging 2.54-mile, 12-turn track has hosted numerous amateur and professional races over the years.

Lots of Cars -- The Hoosier Super Tour at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta is looking to have just about 300 entries across the 29 different car classes. As usual, the Spec Miata and Spec Racer Ford Gen3 fields are very stout. Other classes with strong showings of a dozen or more cars include Super Touring® Lite, Touring 4, Formula F, Prototype 1 and H Production. That means there should be a lot of exciting action this weekend from Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

New Name and Look -- Along with now being referred to as Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, the venue is also seeing a major enhancement. The old control tower has been demolished and steel girders are going up for a new, state-of-the-art, four-story Michelin Tower which will house a 300-person hospitality/event space on the first floor, a media center and broadcast booths on the second floor, six hospitality suites on the third floor, and four hospitality suites and Race Control on the fourth floor. There will even be a fully-equipped catering kitchen built into the structure and rooftop viewing deck for spectating. Should be a magnificent addition to the facility when completed later this year. But for the Hoosier Super Tour weekend, many of the tireless volunteers will be working from temporary structures.

Open to Spectators – This weekend’s Hoosier Super Tour from Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta is open to the general public. Race fans can view great SCCA racing in person at only $30.00 for a 3-day pass, $25 for a Saturday/Sunday pass, or $20 for single-day entry. Tickets can be purchased at the track box office.  Come on out and enjoy all the wonderful sounds and action at one of North America’s great tracks. But if you’re not in the area, follow along with live timing/scoring, video, Super Tour Radio presented by Hoosier Racing Tire and more at www.scca.com/live.
