Registration Open for First 2019 Tire Rack CAM Challenge Event

TOPEKA, Kan. (Feb. 6, 2019) -- Registration is now open for the Tire Rack CAM Challenge Powered by SCCA® event taking place March 21-23 at zMAX Dragway in Concord, North Carolina.  This is the first of seven point-scoring events conducted around the country that will lead to year-end champions being crowned in all three Classic American Muscle (CAM) classes, plus an Overall CAM Challenge Series Champion determined during the 2019 Tire Rack SCCA Solo Nationals.

Points will be awarded at all CAM Challenge events, with the CAM Challenge Championship Finale -- conducted within the Tire Rack Solo Nationals -- having weighted points 50 percent greater than the previous six regular-season events. Competitors will score points in their best two CAM Challenge events plus points gathered at the Finale, all in a single class. CAM entries will continue as supplemental classes at the Solo Nationals Championship, but points will be tallied as part of the CAM Challenge Series. Class winners will receive 100 points at each regular-season event. Subsequent points will be distributed according to the following formula: Points / Event = 100 – {900 x (Entrant’s Time – Class Winning Time) divided by Class Winning Time}.

At select ProSolo® Events, CAM cars will run in one CAM class. At the end of competition prior to the CAM Challenge, each competitor will be awarded points as if they had run in their respective individual three classes.  The top finishing driver in each of the respective CAM classes will get 100 points.  All others in the respective classes will get points based on the top finishing person in the respective CAM classes.

When CAM Challenges take place alongside Champ Tour events, CAM competitors will run in their respective classes and points awarded in each CAM class according to how people finish.  At the end of the Champ Tour there will be a nine-car CAM Challenge.  The cars in the CAM Challenge will be the first three cars from each class.

During select Match Tour events where CAM Challenges are included, all of the CAM competitors will run in their respective classes and points awarded in each CAM class according to how people finish.  At the end of the class competition there will also be a CAM Challenge.

At Solo Nationals, CAM competitors will run in their respective class. Points will be awarded at a rate of 150% on how each competitor finishes in their class.  At the end of Solo Nationals, the top points person in each class for the year will be awarded the year-end Championship.  The top point person for the year in all three classes will be the 2019 Overall CAM Champion.  If there is a tie in any class or for the Overall Championship,  the tie breaker will be the finishing position at the Solo Nationals on the PAX Index. Please note that drivers must participate at Solo Nationals in Lincoln, Nebraska to be eligible for the year-end CAM Championships.
