As mentioned in this space a few times, the Sports Car Club of America is set to stage the first ever Time Trials Nationals at NCM Motorsports Park in Bowling Green Kentucky, September 28, 29 and 30th . The event is designed to be a gathering point for people to express their #funwithcars passion by driving in competition, on track.

The event will have a variety of elements; starting with untimed lapping sessions to get everyone up to speed and then timed lapping sessions and point-to-point competition. Drivers will only need minimal experience and anyone who enters the event without a competition license can earn a TT Novice Permit.

In preparation for the event, a unique rule set is being crafted. There are multiple levels of preparation for production and production-based cars, from mild to wild. Each of these levels give drivers and builders the opportunity to pursue the concept that most excites them. Some may be highly competitive, others may not, but everyone gets a chance to make their mark and compete for wins and event records.

Last week the Time Trials Board released an update to the preliminary Time Trials Nationals rule set and opened the second comment period which ends April 6th.

In the initial feedback received suggested there were two areas that the TTB could address immediately.  As a result, the safety language has been updated to clarify the requirements for factory driver safety equipment and the Max level rules now allow chassis mounted aero.  If you have not had a chance to review the full rules, you may do so here: TT Nationals Rules Page

In order for the TTB to continue to learn about participants and the Time Trials Nationals Rules, they are asking for your help in completing a short survey for specific feedback on the program from those who are doing or are interested in doing SCCA Time Trials.
