Packin’ In Trophies at Tire Rack Packwood Championship Tour

TOPEKA, Kan. (July 13, 2016) – Southeast of Tacoma and in the shadow of Mount Rainier sits Hampton Mills Old Lumber Yard near the banks of the Cowlitz River.  This wonderfully scenic locale has been home for several years to the Tire Rack Packwood Championship Tour event in Packwood, Washington, where nearly 300 racers came out this past weekend to take a shot at courses designed by Reijo Silvennoinen.

There were several good-sized classes filled with participants looking to take home a trophy.  The 12-competitor C Prepared field saw Frank Stagnaro in a ’65 Shelby Mustang take the win by .539-second over Fred Pascual in a Ford Mustang.  In F Street, Ryan Otis in a Chevrolet Camaro beat a dozen others to claim victory by a .809-second margin over Norman Hayton in a Ford Mustang GT.

The B Street Class had 16 drivers this weekend, but it was Brian Coulson in a Chevrolet Corvette that won by a margin of .826-second over Dan Bullis, also driving a Corvette.  The Street Touring Sport Class was inhabited by 18 racers at Packwood, with Shane Jensen victorious in a Honda CRX Si by .895-second over Eric Stoltz.  And the Street Touring Sport Ladies win went to Jennifer Wooten who was in a Honda CRX Si and managed a 2.897-seconds gap on Leah Nagengast also piloting a Honda Civic Si.

There were nearly 20 competitors in the Street Touring Xtreme and Street Touring Roadster classes in Washington this weekend.  In STX, John Krotez took the win in a Scion FR-S by .359-second over co-driver Daymon Krotez.  The STR win was grabbed by Ron Bauer in a Mazda MX-5 over the Honda S2000 of Mike Lillejord by .936 second.  And in Street Touring Xtreme Ladies, Katie Carney-Oswald’s Subaru WRX came home a winner by .474-second over Amy Coleman in a Subaru BRZ.

One of the tightest races of the weekend was in H Street where Russell Bowlus’ win was only .124-second over Dieter Beldi, both driving Ford Fiestas STs.  But the closest battle took place in Street Modified where Jason Merritt in a Nissan 240SX squeaked out a win of only .027-second over Dallas Cutler in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo.

Other winners from the weekend include: Keith Brown in Super Street, Kristi Brown in Super Street Ladies, Cam Withell in A Street, Adam Ruff in C Street, Nigel Koit in E Street, Evelyn Lee in E Street Ladies, Doug Mikko in Street Touring Ultra, and Mitch Fagundes in Super Street Prepared.
