#TBT the First RallyCross National Championship

In October 2005, SCCA made history with the first National RallyCross event and the first RallyCross National Championship. The event was held at Motorsports Park Hastings (MPH), in Hastings, Nebraska. The location is now the home to a road course, hosting SCCA Club Races, PDX events and more. If you hang around in the evening, track owner George Anderson may just bring out the Bacardi Bus for a group joy ride of the track, an experience worth doing at least once.

The town of Hastings is nothing short of enthusiastic for each racing event that comes to town. In honor of the first RallyCross National Championship, a special edition of the Hastings Tribune was printed with a complete spectator’s guide to the event. The paper featured driver features, schedules, advertising and the story of George’s vision for MPH.

Now in its 11th year, the RallyCross National Championship is bringing more than 100 drivers together in Indianola, Iowa this weekend. Good luck to all participants!
