World Traveler & Racer at 21

Kenton Koch has spent the most of his summer flying between racing commitments in the US, with the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Powered by Mazda series, and the FIA Young Drivers Excellence Academy workshops.

The months of June and July have been nothing short of phenomenal; not only because he was successful, but because he managed to balance some very major commitments.  In two lites race weekends, he produced three wins and a second-place finish at Watkins Glen and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.  He then traveled to Austria for the latest workshop with the FIA Young Drivers Excellence Academy.

In this workshop, the drivers focused on roadway safety, completing drills, creating presentations and competing in a hot lap and slalom competition.  Koch was able to emerge the victor in this competition, but also acknowledged what was learned in the workshop.  He says, "The purpose of the workshop was for us to learn how to become road safety ambassadors, so at the end of the workshop, all the drivers had to come up with a presentation on road safety. We all spoke about what we had learned and also demonstrated what we talked about using cars and a skid pad. It was an eye opening experience and boy was it fun!"

Kenton’s next and final workshop will be in Paul Ricard, France. Not only will the drivers continue to hone their skills, but the academy winner will be announced; the victor will be the driver who best exhibits skill in and out of the car. We wish him the best of luck in his travels and competition.
