Southeast Conference Titles On the Line, Four Conferences In Action

SUMMIT POINT, West Virginia (May 1, 2015) -- While the Northern Conference of the SCCA U.S. Majors Tour is just beginning its slate of races this weekend, the Southeast Conference will crown its 28 Champions this weekend, with the season finale at Summit Point Raceway, May 1-3.

The Summit Point Majors weekend will serve as the 11th and 12th Rounds of the Southeast Conference Championship, as well as the third and fourth rounds of the Northeast Conference Championship. The Western Conference is in action at Buttonwillow Raceway Park for Rounds Seven and Eight, while the Northern Conference opens their season at Blackhawk Farms in a two day event.

For the Southeast drivers, the season started the second weekend of the year, at Homestead Miami Speedway, followed a week later by Rounds three and four at Sebring International Raceway. After a month’s hiatus, the Championship moved to NOLA Motorsports Park in conjunction with the Mid-States Conference opener, then to Road Atlanta two weeks later, March 20-22 and VIRginia International Raceway in April.

Championship Scenarios

American Sedan – None of the three drivers mathematically eligible for the Championship are entered, so pending any last-minute registrations, Tom Ellis will be the Southeast Conference Champion.

B-Spec – Of the seven drivers eligible to win the Championship, only Mac Korince is entered. Currently fourth in points, Korince is 23 points behind leader Darren Seltzer. A win on Saturday would push him to the lead, and solid finishes each day would push him to the Championship.

E Production – None of the 10 drivers with a mathematical chance for the Championship are entered. Unless something changes, point leader Greg Ira will be crowned the Champion.

Formula 500 – Neither of the drivers with a mathematical chance for the Championship is entered. Unless Russell Strate Jr. is a late entry, point leader Jack Walbran will take the title.

Formula Atlantic – Neither of the drivers with a mathematical chance for the Championship are entered. Unless William Goldkind is a late entry and wins both races, point leader, and defending National Champion, Connor Kearby will take the title.

Formula 1000 – Of the four drivers mathematically eligible for the title, only Alex Mayer is entered this weekend. He need to win both days to tie current leader Michael Crowe. If that was to happen, Mayer would take the tiebreaker with more wins.

Formula Continental – Charles Moran and Douglas Rocco are tied at 144 points entering the final weekend. Moran is entered, Rocco is not. If Moran finishes a race and Rocco stays home, Moran will clinch the title.

Formula Enterprises – None of the four drivers with a mathematical chance for the Championship are entered. Unless something changes, point leader Thomas Green will be crowned the Champion.

Formula F - Neither driver with a mathematical chance for the Championship are entered. Unless something changes, point leader Thomas McGregor will be crowned the Champion.

Formula Mazda - None of the five drivers with a mathematical chance for the Championship are entered. Unless something changes, point leader Doug Peterson will be crowned the Champion.

F Production – With 196 points, Ken Kannard has clinched the Championship.

Formula Vee – None of the three drivers mathematically eligible for the Championship are entered this weekend. Unless this changes, point leader Laura Hayes will be crowned the Champion.

GT-1 – With 184 points, Simon Gregg has clinched the Championship.

GT-2 – Of the 13 drivers mathematically eligible for the Championship, only point leader Randall Kinsland and 10th place John Yarosz are entered this weekend. If no other eligible drivers enter this weekend, and Kinsland finishes Saturday’s race in the points, he will lock in the Championship.

GT-3 – Neither driver mathematically eligible for the Championship is entered. If this remains the case, point leader Ray Stephenson will win the Championship.

GT-Lite – Of the three drivers mathematically in contention for the Championship, none are entered. If this remains the case, point leader Peter Shadowen will win the title.

H Production – With 150 points, Will Perry has clinched the H Production Championship.

Prototype 1 – With 180 points, Jacek Mucha has clinched the P1 Championship.

Prototype 2 – Neither driver mathematically eligible for the Championship is entered. If this remains the case, point leader Sherman Chao will win the title.

Spec Miata – Of the five drivers eligible for the Championship, only point leader Danny Steyn is entered this weekend. If this remains the case, Steyn will win the title.

Spec Racer Ford – With 184 points, Scott Rettich has clinched the Championship.

Spec Racer Ford 3 – Neither driver mathematically in contention for the Championship is currently entered. If this remains the case, Kerry Jacobsen will win the Championship.

Super Touring Lite – Neither driver mathematically in contention for the Championship is currently entered. If this remains the case, Nick Leverone will win the Championship.

Super Touring Under – None of the seven drivers mathematically in contention for the Championship is currently entered. If this remains the case, point leader Michael Flynn will win the title.

Touring 1 – Two of the seven drivers mathematically eligible for the Championship, George Winkler (third) and Joe Aquilante (seventh), are entered this weekend. Winkler needs to finish fifth or better each day to pass Andrew Aquilante and win the Championship. Joe Aquilante would need to win both days and have Winkler finish no better than fifth and sixth in the two races to take the title. If Joe Aquilante is unable to win both days, Winkler can finish fifth and sixth to clinch the title by a single point.

Touring 2 – With 169 points, Tim Kezman has clinched the Championship.

Touring 3 – With 117 points, Tom Brady has clinched the Championship.

Touring 4 – Of the five drivers in contention for the Championship, only fourth place Michael Scornavacchi is entered. With only two entries this weekend, Scornavacchi need only finish each day to score enough points to surpass current leader Tim Myers for the Championship.
