Marketing and Communications Intern

Job Summary:
To support the Marketing & Communications Department with various sponsor related programs, promotions, data analysis and public relations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following statements are illustrative of the essential functions of the internship and do not include other non-peripheral duties that may be required. SCCA retains the right to modify or change the duties or essential functions of this position at any time.

•Perform a statistical analysis of competitor participation by vehicle manufacturer; analyze and present results.
•Assist with the administration of all contingency programs including: program notifications, driver registration, decal distribution, compliance verification and timely award payments.
•Assist in the ongoing development and coordination of the SCCA Member Benefits Partnership Program, involving solicitation of new partners and fulfillment of SCCA obligations.
•Assist in the production of event publications relating to competition program Championship events. Includes layout, advertising sales and printer liaison responsibilities.
•Maintain and update the sponsor contact information database for current points of contact and new leads.
•Assist in compilation and dissemination of results from all demographic surveys.
•Assist in maintenance of promotional databases and lead generation activities to ensure timely follow-up for all prospective members.
•Assist in maintaining news clipping compilations pertaining to SCCA competition programs.
•Assist in acquisition of door prizes from corporate sponsors to support the National Championship events.
•Assist in compilation of sponsor-provided materials for distribution to the appropriate Championship events.
•Aid in the modification or enhancement of the SCCA internship program.
•Attend weekly departmental meetings and provide additional support to the Marketing and Communications staff as necessary.

This position requires a minimum of 30 hours of work in the SCCA office, 4 – 5 days per week. This position will start after the spring 2014 semester ends and will continue through the summer. The position may continue into the fall 2014 semester depending upon intern availability.

This internship position is open to juniors and seniors working on a Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, public relations, advertising or a closely related field.

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access is necessary. Adobe InDesign experience is desired.
