Hi .... I am Terry Hanushek and I am a candidate for Area 2 Director.
I have been a member of the South Jersey Region since I moved to the East Coast in 1967 and an associate member of the Washington DC Region since 1973. I also served on the Tri Region Race Group board for many years.
Initially, I joined SCCA as a driver (HP Sprite, CSR Elva) after holding licenses in Tech and F&C.
- I have been continuously active in the Club Racing stewards program since the early 1970's working over 350 events at all Northeast Division tracks, primarily Pocono, Summit Point and New Jersey Motorsports Park. I served as the NEDiv Executive Steward in 1995-1998 and several terms as a Deputy Executive Steward and Training Steward. Since 2008 I have been the Series Steward for the successful Fidelity Power Systems ProIT Series. In 2002, I received the Castle-Stone Award as the outstanding steward in the division.
- For over twenty years I have been an active participant in the planning and scheduling for Club Racing in the Northeast Division, including service as a member of the initial NESCCA Steering Team and the current NEDiv National Racing Committee. In 2000 I received the NESCCA Founders Cup for my support of our division racing series. In 2011 I was awarded NEDiv=s highest award, the Brian Holtz Trophy, for my service to the division.
- My proudest accomplishment has been as a member of my region's Race Planning Committee as we developed a highly regarded racing program from inception starting with the opening of New Jersey Motorsports Park in 2008. I have contributed to the organization and planning of over 30 events while helping to develop and train a strong cadre of regional race officials. I currently plan and administer our SCCA events at NJMP and maintain a strong relationship with NJMP track management.
During my service as a steward and a race organizer, I have attempted to be a facilitator. I am able to look at the broad view and utilize positive, out of the box thinking to develop innovative solutions - solutions which benefit the club, regions and the members. I also have the follow-up to see them through to completion.
It is part of my nature to objectively analyze issues and form independent judgments without regard to a single individual or group's point of view. I never hesitate to advocate for my position but am flexible enough to blend other ideas.
As your director, I will be able to utilize my extensive experience to make immediate, positive contributions. Accordingly, I believe I am uniquely qualified to represent the interests of Area 2 members and competitors.
